Five Muslim men arrested from a garba pandal in Madhya Pradesh's Indore did not commit any crime, and the arrest was only preventive, a senior police officer has said. The men argued with the organisers and the police, he said. The organisers of a traditional garba that has been held for 50 years, Surendra Puri and Rajiv, say garba is open to all and the arrest of Muslim men is only for propaganda. "This is a symbol of our societal unity. We have never discriminated. Since the beginning, our workers are Muslim and they still work fully for the pandal," Rajiv said. Mr Puri said, "This is a public place. We can't stop people from looking because they're Muslims. The Bajrang Dal comes and troubles people, and hands them to police. Even the police are troubled by them. This is the first time such an incident is happening. Muslims come and offer sweets to the puja as well."
