GDP estimate based on data available till December: T.C.A. Anant
The CSO's estimate of 5 per cent growth in FY13 has come as a negative surprise. The Chief Statistician of India, Dr. T.C.A. Anant, explains that the estimates are based on data available till December. He suggested that the data may get revised upwards if farm sector growth in Q4 is stronger. Dr. Anant, however, says that trends have been broadly in line with what was seen in the economy in the first half of the year.
