Indian Railways successfully conducted a trial run of the highly anticipated train route on Katra-Banihal section. The section includes iconic Chenab Bridge of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project. The final CSR inspection is expected to take place on January 7, 8 after which regular train will be operationalized. The much-awaited Chenab River at a height of 359 m (1,178 ft) above the river, is 35 meters taller than Paris' Eiffel Tower. The high-altitude arch bridge between Bakkal and Kauri in Reasi district forms a crucial link from Katra to Banihal. It is part of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Railway Link (USBRL), an ambitious project worth Rs 35000 crore.
