Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad's term in the Rajya Sabha as Leader of Opposition has ended. He speaks about the dynamics within the party for control of the Congress leadership in the past, when a group of leaders fought with Narasimha Rao over the party organisation. "It is unfortunate that most people do not read the history of the party. They do not know how much fight we had with Narasimha rao… Those who say today that there is a rebellion and all that, they don't know the history. Either they were not in politics or have short memory. Myself, Madhavrao Scindia, Rajesh Pilot, Karan R Karan, and Sharadji, that was the group who started fighting Narasimha Rao. And I was one of the backers for Narasimha Rao for Prime Minister. But that didn't come in our personal relation," Mr Azad told NDTV. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday choked up and struggled to speak in parliament during a farewell to the rival politician.
