Every year, the Goa Revolution Day is celebrated on June 18 to mark the day when the liberation struggle against Portuguese colonial rule began in the year 1946. The Goa locals are celebrating in remembrance of their freedom fighters and their struggle for liberation. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday said it was after immense pressure from freedom fighters that the then central government took up 'Operation Vijay' and Goa got liberated from the Portuguese rule in 1961.
