When asked whether the government needs to come clean on what is happening on the LAC, Strategic Affairs Expert, Brahma Chellaney said "I believe the government should be projecting strength and national unity. An open debate in parliament will underscore the vigour of India's democracy and sharpen its public diplomacy. Strengthening public diplomacy doesn't preclude or constrict quiet diplomacy. The government has a genuine concern. The government has a genuine concern that of hosting Xi Jinping at the G20 summit in India next year. The government in its reply to the parliament can merely reiterate what it has said in earlier statements. In other words, the government must realise that there is only an upside to having a debate in parliament on China's border aggression."
