Governor Delays Decision On Hemant Soren: Op Lotus At Work In Jharkhand?
Jharkhand is in the middle of a serious political crisis in which Chief Minister Hemant Soren faces the possibility of disqualification as an MLA and the very real possibility of his government with the Congress collapsing. The Election Commission has reportedly recommended his disqualification finding him guilty in an office of profit case but the Governor has been sitting on it. That has led to speculation that the BJP is planning an Operation Lotus in the state and will poach Congress and JMM MLAs to bring the government down. The ruling alliance said that by not taking a decision on the matter, the Governor was pushing the state towards crisis and fueling horse trading.
