Govt clears import of wheat, sugar, pulses
It's more damaging than any political crisis. With the price rise in commodities ranging from tomatoes to sugar to wheat, the government on Thursday decided to allow the import of sugar, wheat and pulses to try and stem the price rise. The rising price of staples is hurting Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's core constituency - the middle class the most.
