Govt divided over law governing gays
The Centre is expected to clear its stand in the Delhi High Court on Thursday on a law which makes homosexuality illegal in this country. The law can even send someone for life in prison. At the moment, the government is divided on the issue. The Home Ministry has told the court that by treating homosexuality as a criminal offence, the government is protecting public health and morals.
