Govt faces VAT compensation
The Central government faces the task of paying compensation to states that lost money after switching to VAT. One year after of non-BJP states shifted to VAT, most states have seen their revenues jump. But revenues have fallen in eight states and these have turned up at the Finance Ministry with a large bill for compensation.
