The Yogi Adityanath government in UP has triggered a storm by placing Muslim religious institutions under the scanner. first it was madrasas, Muslim religious seminaries, and now Waqf land, i.e. land owned or controlled by Muslim religious and charitable bodies. The UP government has pushed back against a firestorm of criticism that this scrutiny only of Muslim organizations is religious profiling. NDTV's Mariyam Alavi travelled to western UP to separate the govts claims from ground reality.
