Some of the old cables of the century-old bridge in Gujarat weren't changed during the seven-month renovation by a private firm, sources have said. The bridge snapped yesterday, killing over 130, including 47 children, the youngest two-year-old. Oreva, the Gujarat-based watchmaker that renovated the bridge, was given the contract by the Morbi city municipal body in March and no tender route was taken, the contract document shows. Some of the old wires holding the bridge together remained even after the renovation.
