President-elect Donald Trump said Tuesday that he will move to rename the Gulf of Mexico to the “Gulf of America,” a name he said has a “beautiful ring to it.” Speaking at a news conference from his Florida Mar-a-Lago estate, Trump said he would make the announcement "at a future date pretty soon." "We're going to be changing the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America. Which has a beautiful ring that covers a lot of territory," Trump said. "And it's appropriate. It's appropriate," he added, "Because we do most of the work there and it's ours." The incoming president's declaration is his latest suggestion that he wants to redraw the map of the Western Hemisphere.
