There is a growing controversy in Gurugram after Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said Namaz should be offered in mosques and idgahs and not in open spaces. Yesterday, his minister Anil Vij said people should not offer Namaz in open spaces with the intention of land-grabbing; it wouldn't be allowed, he said. Friday's namaz was disrupted by right wing groups at several locations in Gurugram last week and today a citizens group met with the administration to demand protection for those offering Namaz, and action against vigilantes. Tonight on Livestream, we ask, can such an edict of not worshipping in a public space be restricted to Namaz alone? Are there any extenuating circumstances, and who decides what should be allowed and what should be banned?
