"Had No Choice": Akali Dal Chief On Withdrawing Support From Farm Bills

Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal spoke to NDTV about the controversial farm bills that were passed in the Lok Sabha today shortly after Union minister and his wife Harsimrat Kaur Badal resigned from the cabinet. Saying Ms Badal had strongly opposed the ordinances from Day 1 when they were introduced, Sukhbir Badal said he is "sad the government brought the bill without a dot of change." He added that the party met Punjab farmers and told their views to the government thinking the government will make changes accordingly. "You cannot be a part of the government which has not looked into the rights of the farmers," he added. "Had no choice but to withdraw support," Mr Badal said.
