Pilgrims pelted stones at a pillar on Wednesday, which symbolically is called stoning the devil who tried to mislead Prophet Ibrahim when he was on his way to slaughter his only son Ismael. Working in obedience to God's command, the devil tried to dissuade Ibrahim from fulfilling his duty and then the prophet stoned him.
