Haryana elections are at an interesting inflexion point. There are rebels, and independents threatening to teach the mainstream parties a lesson, and there are multiple claimants to the Chief Minister's post too. In Congress specifically, several big players have openly talked about their dissent. The party leadership has tried to play it down, saying there are differences but there is no conflict. The party is riding on its momentum of winning five out of ten seats in Haryana in Lok Sabha 2024, preventing a BJP record sweep for the third time. While it seems to be all an out-and-out Hooda show, there are also leaders such as Randeep Surjewala and Dalit face of the party and Sirsa MP, Kumari Selja, who have spoken out making it clear that they have stakes too. Is factionalism spoiling the party's prospects in Haryana?
