The BJP has released its first list of 67 candidates for the upcoming Haryana assembly election, with Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini to contest from Ladwa seat. The party has tried to balance tickets to its core leaders and to turncoats. Devender Singh Babli, Sanjay Kablana and Shruti Choudhry, who joined the BJP recently, will contest from the Tohana, Beri and Tosham seats, respectively. Now on the Opposition front, the Congress party, which is eyeing to wrest power from the BJP after 10 years, is in talks with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to contest the assembly elections together. The party is finalising its candidate list and has decided not to announce a chief ministerial candidate, opting instead for a combined leadership model.
