Transport minister Nitin Gadkari said that the additional duty on petrol and diesel will not affect the common man. "Not at all, in the international market price of fuel is increasing. It will get compensated. It will not affect the common man," Mr Gadkari said. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who presented the Union Budget 2019-20 in parliament today, has proposed an excise duty and cess of 1 rupee per litre each on petrol and diesel, on the back of easing global crude oil prices.
