Himachal polls: Can BJP overcome anti-incumbency?
The BJP started its election campaign on the issue of corruption, but when similar charges were levelled against its own party president, it switched strategy to focus on the issue of price rise - even promising free induction heaters if it returned to power. The incumbent BJP is hoping to script history in Himachal Pradesh by going the Punjab way, where the Akali Dal-BJP combine returned to power. The state has never repeated a government since 1977.
