Nearly two weeks after the government banned the usage of 500 and 1000 rupee notes, those employed in India's informal sector seem to be the worst hit. While the government has announced various rule relaxations in this period, for many of these daily wagers, subsistence has become increasingly hard. Many of the urban poor are considering migrating back to their villages - for it means, at least, one definite meal.
