The RBI has set a deadline for exchanging or depositing Rs 2,000 notes by September 30, clarifying that the notes will be legal tender post that as well. Nilesh Shah, a member of the PM's Economic Advisory Council, asked 'how many people with crores of rupees will go to banks will exchange them?' Mr Shah, Managing Director of Kotak Mahindra Asset Management Company Limited, said people with unaccounted wealth will be fearful, but honest taxpayers have nothing to worry about for exchanging and depositing their notes.
