How Government Earns, Where It Spends, Nirmala Sitharaman Explains
The total receipts for fiscal 2025 other than borrowings come to an estimated ₹ 32.07 lakh crore, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said in her Budget presentation today. The government's total expenditure comes to ₹ 48.21 lakh crore, she said.
The net tax receipts were approximately ₹ 25.83 lakh crore, while the fiscal deficit is estimated at 4.9 per cent of the gross domestic product (GDP), the Finance Minister said.
The gross and net market borrowings through dated securities in 2024-25 are estimated at ₹ 14.01 lakh crore and ₹ 11.63 lakh crore, respectively.
