The grandness of the Chola empire, more than 1,000 years old, comes alive in Mani Ratnam's dream project Ponniyin Selvan, or PS1, that releases this Friday in five languages, including Hindi. The film has an ensemble star cast, with top stars from the tamil film industry, Vikram, Karthi, Jeyam Ravi, Aishwarya Rai and Trisha, all dressed up in royal splendour. Dressing up the star cast, from the Raja and princess, to the darban and handsmaids, with royal costumes and spectacularly grand and classic jewellery, staying true to the times, was a mind-bogglingly challenging task. NDTV's Uma Sudhir spoke to Eka Lakhani and Pratiksha Prashanth to get insights into how they contributed to the universe Mani Ratnam had envisioned, inspired by Kalki Krishnamurthy's epic novel and Maniam's timeless illustrations.
