How Phone Calls, Word-Of-Mouth Triggered A Mob Attack, Killing 2 Men In Assam
In Assam, on June 8, two young men out on a leisure trip to Karbi Anglong district to see a waterfall were killed by local villagers who thought they were child lifters after a local man raised false alarm that he saw them with children in car, called up people to stop them; all this at a time when there was a strong rumours doing the rounds on social media that there were child lifters on the prowl in the area.
