Hunger & despair: Eastern UP fraught with backwardness
Backwardness, poverty, neglect, deprivation, corruption, these are adjectives that have become synonymous with Uttar Pradesh, especially its eastern regions. Sadly these never make the headlines. Village after village the men have left for jobs in the city. Almost 80 per cent of the villages in Uttar Pradesh don't have electricity.
