The Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir denies that he has mishandled the case of a party worker who died while in police custody. Syed Mohammed Yousuf Shah was handed to the Crime Branch by Mr Abdullah last week; he died 12 hours later." Mohammed Yousuf was a crook whom I dealt with in a transparent manner," Mr Abdullah said. Mr Shah was accepting bribes from people who he promised important government positions to. The Chief Minister says he accepts that Mr Shah's transgressions were reported to him two months ago. When asked why he met Mr Shah so much later, he said, "I'm only human; I forgot to address the complaint of graft immediately."
