"I need three years to end the Chhattisgarh problem", says India's crisis manager KPS Gill, who as the Director General of Police is credited with routing militancy from Punjab in 1988. Commenting on the current state of affairs in Chhattisgarh, he authoritatively says that poor planning, lack of overall plans and deficient training institutions for the Chhattisgarh Police personnel are a few reasons for the worsening situation. According to him, constructing roads and townships for the locals will help the government win hearts and his advice to the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh is that no matter what cadre he should make the best man in the country his DGP.
