Following months of wrestlers' protests against former Wrestling Federation of India chief BrijBhushan Sharan Singh, Sanjay Singh, an aide of BrijBhushan, was elected as the new president on December 21. Meanwhile, the protesting wrestlers were extremely unhappy with the appointment of the new chief. Expressing displeasure over his appointment, wrestler Sakshee Malikkh broke down and announced her decision to quit wrestling. Asked about Ms Malikkh quitting the sport, BrijBhushan Singh said he had nothing to do with it. Notably, the wrestlers have been protesting against the former WFI chief over sexual harassment allegations.
