Recently, an IAS officer who was appointed the nodal officer for Covid in Ghaziabad, rejoined work a fortnight after she gave birth, her baby girl in tow. Speaking with NDTV, Saumya Pandey said she was surprised at the reaction she got and that she understands it's not possible for everyone to return so quickly. She said her camp office was attached to her residence, which is why she was able to work. She also pointed out that she had a lot of help, including her family and staff to support her during this time. And on whether her husband was able to take paternity leave, she said as they were both officers, and amid the pandemic, taking time off was proving difficult.
