IIM Draft Bill: More Coordination or Lesser Autonomy?

While threat to autonomy is a crucial element for the older Indian Institutes of Management in the IIM Draft Bill as proposed by the HRD Ministry but for their newer peers, it is the degree granting power that is a must. With the emergence of two clear factions, the draft bill has led to strong arguments from both sides and country's top management institutions seem divided in their opinion. Critics of the draft bill argue that the proposed bill gives all the power to the government, reducing the institutions to a mere operation center with no voice of their own.
