A record rise in inflation was witnessed, especially retail inflation in May which is the highest in six months, as oil prices rose - with 60 per cent rise in mustard oil's prices alone. 50-year-old Saroj, a BPL card holder in Haryana, tells NDTV that he used to get 2 litres of mustard oil at Rs 20 per litre but the government has now suspended the supply of mustard oil and salt and instead decided to provide Rs 250 in the beneficiaries' accounts, which is not enough to cover the costs.
