The Supreme Court, that is hearing a case related to a 150-year-old gay sex ban in India, has been told by the centre today that it is up to the courts to declare Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code, that criminalises voluntary sexual intercourse "against the order of nature, unconstitutional". While this could ultimately lead to a landmark ruling by the court, what is it like, especially in small town India, to live under the constant shadow of Section 377?
