Bangladesh News | India Cancels Bangladesh Transshipment Facility, How Will It Impact Exports? In what is being seen as a measure by India as far as Bangladesh is concerned, India has terminated transshipment facility for Bangladesh. The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) informed it had revoked its earlier circular dated June 29, 2020, in respect of the "transhipment of export cargo from Bangladesh to third countries through Land Customs Stations (LCSs) to ports or airports in containers or closed-bodied trucks" India had permitted Bangladesh transhipment of export cargo using Indian Land Customs. The move could affect Bangladesh's trade Bhutan, Nepal, and Myanmar, which happens seamlessly through India. The move comes as Bangladesh seems to have pivoted towards China at the cost of India. In 2020, India had allowed transhipment of export cargo from Bangladesh to third countries using Indian Land Customs Stations en route to Indian ports and airports, to enable Bangladesh to export to countries like Nepal, Bhutan and Myanmar.
