In the 2019 Maharashtra Legislative Assembly elections, the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA), comprising the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Shiv Sena (SHS), secured a majority. The BJP won 105 seats, while the Shiv Sena secured 56 seats, taking their alliance tally to 161 out of 288 seats. The Indian National Congress (INC) won 44 seats out of the 147 it contested, and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) secured 51 seats.
