Economist and Nobel laureate Professor Amartya Sen says India has got away with a "lot of violations of standard norms of democratic behaviour." Talking to NDTV on the worry among the authorities in India that the democratic world of the West is increasingly attacking India, Mr Sen says "someone doing some little, odd experiment like tool kit is immediately shown to be defaming India. The people are not sitting there, ready to defame India."
