Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee died on Thursday evening nearly two months after he was admitted to Delhi's All India Institute of Medical Sciences. He was 93. BJP National President Amit Shah, while talking to reporters, said it was "an irreparable loss" for the BJP.
"We have lost the pole star of Indian politics. He was a multi-faceted personality. The country has lost a great political leader. The literary world has lost a gem. Since 1957, Atal Bihari Vajpayee was the voice of the underprivileged in the parliament. Crores of youth have lost their inspiration. We won't be able to fill this void for long," Mr Shah said and added, "His death marks the end of an era. But we will carry forward his legacy."
