Instant messaging service WhatsApp was down for users across the globe for close to two hours, making it its biggest ever outage. "For Meta, India is the largest market. People from tier 2, 3 cities are possibly more than 50 per cent of the users of these family of apps. This outage affected thousands all over the world. Last time this happened, there was loss of $160 billion to the world," said Sanchita Mukherji, economic observer.
