India's defence procurement from Russia forms a major part of the 16 agreements signed between the two countries during bilateral talks co-chaired by PM Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in Goa. Apart from the $5 billion S-400 Triumph missile defence system, which will provide India a shield against ballistic missiles, it will also acquire 200 KA-226T light helicopters and four advanced variant of India's 'Talvar Class' frigate warships from Moscow, which will be jointly manufactured in Russia and India.
