India's Ailing Healthcare: Who's Responsible?
At some point in our lives, we all have all been or will be affected by an illness. So when the news of how much a private hospital in Gurgaon recently charged a 7-year-old patient's family for dengue treatment breaks, it sends a chill down one's spine. Jayant Singh, the father of 7-year-old Adya Singh received a bill of Rs 16 lakhs after his daughter was admitted to the ICU for two weeks for dengue. Speaking to NDTV, Mr Singh says he believes his daughter was clinically dead for days but the hospital kept her on the ventilator so the bills could pile up. Fortis Hospital has denied these charges.
