India's longest sea bridge which is under construction in Mumbai crossed a major milestone this week. The Mumbai Trans Harbour Link, also known as the Sewri-Nhava Sheva Trans Harbour Link, is 21.8-kilometre bridge across the Thane Creek that will connect upscale South Mumbai to the satellite city of Navi Mumbai and Raigad and the upcoming new international airport in Navi Mumbai. It will cut a circuitous 150-minute journey to just 25 minutes. This week, the first technologically advanced orthotropic steel deck was launched in the middle of Thane Creek. The new bridge is set to be thrown open to commuters in late 2023. NDTV brings you this report from the Thane creek as the feat was achieved.
