TikTok had over 200 million active users in India when it was banned. The erstwhile TikTok stars are struggling on Instagram. Though Instagram has displaced rural creators and largely replaced Tiktok, painters and artists are struggling to earn from the platform. Many influencers claim that while alternative apps have filled the void, the post-TikTok revenue is not the same. Is the rural-urban divide hurting erstwhile TikTok stars?
