Iran Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s aide has warned that the country will have to procure nuclear weapons if attacked by the United States or its allies, following US President Donald Trump’s threat to bomb Iran. The development comes after Iran’s supreme leader Khamenei vowed to hit back if President Trump carried out bombing in Tehran, if the country doesn’t negotiate over its nuclear programme. Khamenei’s adviser Ali Larijani said, “We are not moving towards (nuclear) weapons, but if you do something wrong in the Iranian nuclear issue, you will force Iran to move towards that because it has to defend itself.” In another development, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met with Netherlands Foreign Minister Caspar Veldkamp in New Delhi on Monday, where they discussed expanding bilateral cooperation in sectors such as trade, investments, and innovation. The two also explored new opportunities in semiconductors, green hydrogen, education, and talent flows. Watch The World Report for the latest updates.
