Is Delhi Metro Fare Hike Fair?
There have been protests in Delhi after a hike in Metro fares came into effect today. The Metro is Delhi's lifeline, transporting lakhs of people everyday. The ruling Aam Aadmi Party has said the hike in fares is too steep and has accused the Centre of trying to convert the Metro into an elite mode of transportation. The Centre has denied that allegation and asked why didn't the Aam Aadmi Party object to the proposed fare hike earlier when the Delhi Metro Rail Board met and in which there were five Delhi government representatives.
