The Election Commission has given seven clean chits to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah over allegations of poll code violations by the opposition. Four of the instances to the PM are with a dissent by one of the Election Commissioners but questions are being raised on why the poll panel has not issued formal orders giving reasons for the five clean chits to the Prime Minister and instead chosen to communicate its decision to the complainants, the Congress party, through a letter . Does the Election Commission have different yardsticks for different people? Should there be more transparency about the inner workings of the commission?
