October 31 was the deadline for the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) to have a Special General Meeting, to break the almost year long deadlock with the International Olympic Committee (IOC). And while a meeting did happen over the last weekend, it didn't produce any solution as such. Instead it brought an unlikely alliance that will possibly delay India's return to the Olympic fold. In a surprise alliance, Abhay Singh Chautala and Randhir Singh joined forces even though the latter had till now vehemently opposed the views and opinions of the Chautala camp. This alliance means is that now there's no opposition to the Chautala camp. In other words the contentious chargesheet clause that the IOC wants to enforce will continue to be opposed by the IOA. The IOA is in the process of sending an amended constitution to the IOC, but this means a further delay in India's return to the Olympic fold, and even possible disaffiliation.
