It is a Rs 10,000 crore mission to have Indian astronauts in space. The cabinet has cleared India's manned mission, a mission that takes India to the next level of being a space power. But what really is the point of a manned Indian mission to space? What is it really going to achieve and could the money have been spent more wisely in other parts of our space programme, such as robotic missions, probes and satellites to other planets?
