Israel Lebanon News: Israel will stop its attacks on Lebanon, and Hezbollah shall stop occupying southern Lebanon according to the Ceasefire Deal enacted at 4AM local Lebanon time Tuesday. So what are the terms of the deal, the role of UN’s UNIFIL, and will this bring peace in the war torn West Asia? Most crucially, the deal gives a 60-day period for de-escalation within which Israeli troops would withdraw from southern Lebanon, and Hezbollah would pull back north of the Litani River, ending its presence in the south. According to the terms, the Lebanese army which was mostly a bystander so far, will ensure the armed group Hezbollah does not capture Southern Lebanon again. Additionally, there can be no escalation by either Israel or Hezbollah in any form of weapon use or crossing over into each other’s territory.
