NITI Aayog chief Amitabh Kant today said that the interim budget announcement of giving Rs. 6,000 to farmers with small land holdings will enable liquidity to be provided to them. When asked if the move would bring the direct cash transfer era, he replied in the affirmative. "I think this is the most notable feature of the budget. It marks a major structural reform, moving away from loan waivers, which were distorting credit history, distorting markets. This would enable liquidity to be provided to the farmers," Mr Kant told NDTV.
