Jammu encounter - Timeline
On August 25 night, a small group of militants managed to sneak into Indian territory at the Akhnoor sector. The militants resurfaced on August 27 in army fatigues at Mishriwala and opened fire killing three civilians and one jawan. At around 5.30 am, the gunmen went to Bantalab and entered a residential colony. A few minutes later, they entered a house and took the women and children of Billo Ram's family hostage. Neighbours then alerted the police.
